The Phylum
The phylum nematoda consists of the species commonly known as roundworms. There are approximately 12,000 described species. Nematode worms are extremely abundant ,and there a often several hundred species. Nematodes are extremely varied ecologically. They are found in almost imaginable habitat including land based, freshwater, and saltwater. Also, the Nematoda phylum has two classifications--higher classification and lower classification. The higher classification is Nematoida and the lower classifications are Adenophorea and Secernentea. Nematodes are bilaterally symmetrical worm like organisms that are surrounded by a strong, flexible noncellular layer called a cuticle. The cuticle is secreted by and covers a layers epidermal cells.
Nematodes move by contraction of the longitudinal muscles. Because their internal pressure is high, this causes the body to flex rather than flatten, and the animal moves by thrashing back and forth. No cilia or flagella are present.

(Plectus parvus, Plectus assimilis, Acrobeles cephalotus, Micro dorylaimus angelus.)
2. what habitats do nematodes live in
